Holiday

On holiday it was fun because I went to Piha beach!!.
I'm  excited because it was my first time.  We took some bread, sausages, the strawberry jam, chocolate jam and some juice.
It was not cold and not hot but it was good weather.  We didn't bring our swimming togs because the waves were so hard.
We climbed the mountain, it was hard because it was high and I didn't wear my shoes . So it was too hard but it was fun.
Then we ate lunch - I ate bread, Hot dogs and some juice.  It taste very good .
We went to home I was sad I want play some more but I had fun. I watched a movie with my friend.  It was called The Last Air Bender, it was fun.
On the weekend I went to Andrew's house we played computer games and card games.  Then my friend come to my house, so we played at the playground and I went my friend's house . We play at playground and we ride the scooter it was fun.

I like this holiday because we went  to Piha beach. Then I  go to Andrew's house and play with my friend so I like this holiday.

Zoo Trip

On Wednesday we went to the zoo. I'm excited because I'm going to zoo for the first time. My group is number 1, my group have many Koreans but we used English.
We ride in the bus. I'm sit with Andy. We arrive at the zoo, it looks cool than Korea zoo.
First we saw kiwi's but it is dark. I can see kiwi but little bit I can't see kiwi because it is dark and then we go somewhere and we learn about the kiwi and we write about the kiwi. It is not hard because we already learn about kiwi.  After we learn about kiwi we ate morning tea and we saw many animals - elephant, lion, tiger, monkey, giraffe, zebra etc. My favourite animal is an elephant and dog but dogs not in the zoo.  We ate lunch, my lunch is sushi it is yummy.
We saw more animals, we saw playground and a big hole so we go in to the hole it have many ways, so we saw animal in the hole and we wave to the children and teacher.  It is so funny, I want go to the hole again but I can't go to the hole again because the time is almost gone and it is raining and we meet other people and go to the bus.
We talked and we ride in to the bus and go to the school. I was sad.
But we go back to school. My class was playing mafia so I watched what they doing.
It is a fun time.

Auckland Hockey Academy

Today the Auckland Hockey Academy visited Summerland Primary School. They only taught the year 5's and 6's. There was two men Hemant and Sean there. They had set up 2 groups of hockey sticks on the courts. We all thought we were using those sticks but we weren't.
They had told us to jump over the sticks. They showed us a demonstration how to jump over the sticks. When we had finished doing that we had grabbed a hockey stick and got a partner. They had said we had to pass the ball to your partner. 15 minutes later we had to get in a group of 3 or 4. They had put 3 cones in front of us. We had to go in and out of the cones. When we reached to our group we had to pass it to the next person. My group was the first to finished!
After that we had to go on the netball court and spread out. We got our own ball. The instructor said there was 3 levels.
Level 1 is when you just dribble the ball everywhere.
Level 2 is when you dribble the ball but when the instructor says "PASS" you pass the ball to someone else. You cannot pass the ball to the same person you passed.
Level 3 is when you try to get someones ball and hit it to the sides. Who every gets out has to sit on the side. If you want to get in the game you must bounce your ball 3 times on your stick. We played it again but this time if you get out you lose. Viliami survived.
The next game we played was Hockey Ball Rush. There was 2 attackers. The people who survived was Lisa, Courtney and Michael. We returned our balls in the bag and lined up. Room 22 had arrived at the courts. We went to the class and did our timetable.

Dylan's WWE tour

A couple of Thursdays ago I went to the Smackdown Tour that came to New Zealand. When we got there I was so excited about it. It was at the Vector Arena in the city. We went to have dinner first Reid and I had Mc Donald's then mum and dad had some rice and chicken. Then we headed back to Vector Arena. I really wanted a shirt but mum said No! Dad secretly brought me a John Cena shirt that was heaps of money. Then it was the first match. It was lots of fun seeing my favourite and non favourite superstars. My Favourite match was Rey Mysterio vs Kane. Rey did the 619 to me on his fingers to me when I was fighting Reid my Brother. Kane weighs about 305 pounds, Kane has weight and height advantage. Rey did one advantage - high flying. Ding Ding the match starts Rey kicks Kane in the leg, Kane punch's, a few minutes later the match is over. THEN KANE has not had enough, he starts beating up Rey. No way it was the Big Show - who weighs about 220kgs and is 7 foot. Big Show starts to beat the life out of Kane then Drew Mcintyre comes down and starts kicking Big Show. Then Kofi Kingston come down hit Drew. Suddenly out of no where Drew and Kane are gone - running and upset like little Babies crying for their Mummy. Rey gets his revenge and so does The Big Show and Kofi Kingston. Rey stay's, Big show and Kofi Kingston go.
Then we go home get into pajamas, have something to eat brush teeth and go to bed.

Blart Character Descriptions

We have been doing character descriptions in our class to get ready for the writing test that need us to write one about someone. I have done one about Blart and from my character description I drew a picture of Blart on Kid Pix on the computer.

This is my Character description:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm not going anywhere!" exclaimed Blart, the boy who was very stupid and loved pigs. He had lived with pigs for his whole life with his grandfather on a farm, which is the reason he likes pigs.

Blart has a darkish shade of blonde hair, with blue eyes and a pig-like nose. He wears loose clothes that stink of B.O. and mud. Blart is used to it. He's as tall as a humongous 13 year old and he has pale white skin that matches his clothes and hair.

He is very persistent in staying with his pigs and would even choose to stay with them rather than go and save the world. He always gives up on something really easily and he is really stupid. Stupid because of not saving the world, he doesn't know any useful words to say and wouldn't even know what 1+1 equals. He is very selfish and would never help anyone except for himself and pigs. He likes to do nothing but sit down instead of jumping and running around like a normal kid, he might even be mentally challenged.

One time blart got kidnapped and didn't know which word to say for kidnapped. Another time he somehow turned down the demand of saving the world and went to sleep in his bed instead.

What I think of blart is dumb and also a little funny with how he acts. Mainly but, really, really really idiotic!

The Stardome Sleep Over!!!

In the holidays we played at Maristelle's house and we saw her niece named Summer. Maristelle's niece is so annoying but cute and she cried over us, and laughing at Strawberry Shortcake her favourite movie in the whole world!
We laughed because in America there Spring is in March and here its September. Summer went to my brother (her dad) and told on us! My brother didn't care about telling us off, then Summer went to my mum and still another person didn't care about us laughing at the movie! After all that drama we ate lunch with my mum, Samantha, Summer, Tyrone, Steve and Maristelle. When everyone left Sam and Maristelle watched some Sonny with a Chance, Glee, Sweet Life on Deck and the Simpsons!
While we were watching TV we had some mandarins and we were peeling the white stuff off it and eating them with tooth-picks! (how funny!!)
When it was dark we left to the Mexacani Fresh at 7:00pm to eat dinner and then we went to the Star Dome at 7:30pm but our turn was at 8:00pm, so we had to wait for a long and long time to go into the Star Dome it was amazing to see.
After we did that we were laughing so hard it was crazy! Then we went to sleep!

Winter Field Day!

In term 3 we are doing Winter Field Day and I am doing Hockey. Winter field day is a day where most of the schools in West Auckland go and play different sports.
Winter field day is on Tuesday 24th August. For hockey we need a mouthguard, shin pads, long socks to cover up the shin pads and a hockey stick, this optional because the school has some we could use.

We have training before school on Mondays, and Wednesday afternoons where we usually do senior sport. We do alot of drills and games in training so that while we train we also make it fun.

I chose hockey because I wanted to try something different from soccer because I already play it for a club and it turns out that when you try something different its actually really fun. There were also other sports I could have done like Soccer, Netball, Rugby and Kiwisport.

Winter Field Day will be really fun and we will all enjoy it.

Already at University!

"OH MY GOSH! ARE WE DREAMMING, BECAUSE WERE GOING TO UNI !!!" This is what we felt inside, 10 & 11 year olds going to UNI now that is something BIG. The chosen people were offered a variety of sessions which improved different areas of our learning. This certain class we were attending was taught by Russel G. and it was Word Wizardry. We gained the knowledge about where the english language originated from. "Anglo Waaa?" The English language originated from the Anglo Saxon language. Did you know that the country that speaks the most english is India OMG !!! We learnt heaps from Russel as he had lots to tell us because of experience throughout his lifetime. He told us that at one stage that French was actually the most common language. We learnt so much our heads started hurting. The best part was at the end when we got to handle ancient artifacts and some of them were recreated. Thank you Russel for expanding the knowledge in our minds and which might help us in the future!!

In November and October

In October I am having my 10th birthday on the 19th, and when its the next saturday I will go to Rainbows end and I will go on the new ride called INVADER and its so cool!
I can do it without any hands! I love the roller coaster and and the go-carts!
Then on halloween in October I was meant to be born on halloween but I came early, Samantha and I will go trick-or-treating till our stomachs are full with candy!
We will have so much fun.
In November its Samantha's birthday!!! How exiting, we can't wait and we are having a spa theme and its going to be fun we can't wait till it comes!

Word Wizardry with Russell Greenwood

On Tuesday the 3rd of August 2010 Maristelle, Atarah, Shari, Aashay, Courtney, Lisa, Hannah and I went to WORD WIZARDRY! And we learnt how to say words and translate them into English, ond-and pa-the walas-weird , etc. We learnt about ancient Rome and the Romans and we got to see pottery from long ago as I call it. We learnt how to translate the story of Cynewulf he's a warrior who has deprived Sigebryght of his kingdom for unrytumdaedum-Unriches deed and he is dead. I filled up like 5 pages of my everything book. Russell told us that we had to go outside and do some exercise because we had been sitting for ages and we would get fat and that our parents would kill him!

Rm 17's Classroom Set Up

In term two room 17 teacher the amazing Miss Davies had an idea, her idea was to change the classroom around and add some things on.
First we had to measure every thing to make sure everything could fit in the place it had to be in. Then we had to move everything around in the last two days of the term. Then we could play around with it on friday because we finished it quite quickly.
It's really cool to have Miss Davies as our teacher.

Our New Timetable!!

In the 2nd week of T3 Miss Davies gave us some timetables to work on.
For the first week we worked on time management actually getting through the whole timetable, it is now w3 with our timetables we all have gotten better with our time management...
Miss Davies would give us say 4x Reading, 4x Maths, 3x Blogs, 2x Homelinks and 1x iRead to put on our timetable and the squares that Miss Davies has already filled we have to leave them alone the rest that aren't, we fill in with our Maths/Reading etc.
I am getting to learn that our timetables aren't that easy and they aren't to cool...what I hate about them is that if say my reading group had to do reading as a "GROUP" and we couldn't because no one else was doing it at that time that you were. What I like about it is that we get to do what we want when we want...My conclusion about our timetable is, I love our new timetable it is really cool, fun and a very new experience...Thanks Miss Davies!!

Maori language week

On maori language week 25 of July our class room 17 did maori word of the week. It went for the whole week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The first word of the week was Rekareka it means fun. Then the second word was Ako it means success, the third was Whakakotahitanga which means Team. After that was Whakaute that means Respect and the last (the easiest) ngakau tapatahi means Integrity. Here are some maori words for you to say "Ka pai" and 'Turituri. Ka pai that means good TURITURI means BE QUIET.
I learnt all of those new words which are our Summerland values!

Mr Ken Ring Doing Maths Magic!!

On Tuesday the 27 2010, I did math magic with Ken Ring!
When Shari, Aashay and I went to the library we were the only ones there and we waited and waited and waited for miss Dysart to come and get us but she didn't so someone els came to get instead. We had to bring three rubber bands, a deck of cards, three coins, a pencil, paper and pen. As we sat down Ken opened a book and fire came out! It was amazing! I had never seen anything like it! I wish I knew how to do it and I wish I could do it!
We got to do a lot of stuff like 26 coins, moving rubber band trick, four kings and a lot more that I can name! After we did some magic tricks we had morning tea and it was so much fun playing with one of my best friends Samantha!
It was fun and we had to wait on the courts but some people didn't wait and went through all the construction they could of got hurt but luckily they didn't get hurt at all.
When we went in inside we did some more magic and Ken poked a needle into a balloon and it didn't pop!
How cool and that is my maths magic.

My Holidays

In the Holidays on Saturday I went on a two hour bush walk with my Mum, Dad, sister, Aunty, Uncle, and my two cousins . It was really long, I was left behind and I also I got lost. I got found when my dad came to find sticks so we could play a game called find the sticks. It sounds so boring and It was.
I had a bad day on Saturday. On Sunday me and my dad went to see Karate Kid and Twilight Eclipse. I really liked Karate Kid the most because, it told a stroy about a boy who went to China and always got bullied by boys and he learns karate.
Twilight was ok but I cound not understand anything, it was all confusing to me .
In the next week, I stayed home and took care of my sister.

I'm paired with Abby our game is called knock the block it involves water well nearly everybody's games that is in room 17 involves water but not Anjali's and Andrew's. We also have people playing our games too there is room 17 room 10 and room 12 but the people that are running the game they don't have to play because they are going to show the people that are playing how to play or if they want to play they can play and if they don't want to they don't have to.

Me in the Holidays

In the holidays I mainly stayed at home because I had a cold. Sometimes I went to the neighbours and we played on the tramp, it was fun. Also we played in her room. Her mum gave me some jeans they are cool. Before we went to the neighbours me and my mum went to the mall and I got a dress and some other stuff.
My brother and I went to the movies and saw Twilight and Toy Story 3, they were cool.
I had a sleepover at my best friend Maristelles house. It was fun and we went to the Stardome. At the Stardome we got to lie down and see the planets. We got to listen to some people that said "I'm walking on the moon, I might skip now, do do do do doo" and he was singing it. It was really funny and sounded funny!
Then we had a week left of the school holidays. I went to the mall with my mum and I had sushi. Then It was my Grandads brithday and he was turning 65 and we got to eat a really nice cake that I got for my family it had caramel icing it was yummy yum yum!

The Marvelous Math Magician!!!

'Where is it?' 'oh no!' was all you could hear from the three of us as we searched around the room for our equipment.
Unless you didn't know, today was the day that someone very special was going to visit us. It was the one and only maths magician Mr. Ken Ring! As we entered the room everyone fell into a deep silence waiting for Mr. Ken Ring to do something. Throughout the day he talked and showed us amazing tricks including fire coming out of a book, a needle going through a balloon without popping, a coin going through a balloon from the outside, as well as a whole list of other things. He even let us in on some of them but don't think we are going to tell it to the whole world by writing on this blog.
It was a great experience for the 3 of us and we really enjoyed it.
Thank-You Mr. Ken Ring! Don't forget to check out his 2 websites they are

Amazing Hockey!

Last term the year 5's and 6's had to meet on the court for senior sport. The senior teachers told us to pick a winter sport game. There was kiwi sport, hockey, rugby, netball and soccer. I picked hockey. The teachers then told us that we would practice next term ( Term 3).
Today was term 3 and everyone was ready. The gear I brought was a mouth guard, hockey stick, shin pads and long socks. I was ready!
The practices for hockey was Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00am, Miss Davies was the coach for hockey. We practiced on the courts. I was really, really EXCITED! When we finished playing hockey I would always get a vivid mark on my leg from sweating! Yesterday we had senior sport. We had to bring spare clothes because we were going on to the field. It was all muddy and dirty when I jumped up and down. When everyone had finished we had to clean our hockey stick. I washed my stick at the Muriwai fountain.
All the rugby students had pushed in line to get washed. I got annoyed when everyone pushed in. Everyone had finished washing. We had to go back to class to do our work. Man I had a lot of work to finish!

AFL Kiwi Kicks

In week one of term 3, the AFL Kiwi Kick people came to our school. They came to give us a try-out of their club AFL kiwi Kick.

They taught us how to do a drop punt- a drop punt is a type of kick with a rugby ball. They told us to have the laces of the ball facing away from us and to drop the ball then kick it away from us!!! When one of the kids kicked the ball it flew over the fence and hit a car but thank goodness it did not do any damage!!!!
We played another game called "Bomb The Teacher!" First we got into pairs and lined up behind some cones each with a ball, then we had to do a drop punt kick and try and hit the teachers!!!!!! ( Mr Sunny, Miss Davies and Miss Cheeseman )
They gave out forms to sign up for Kiwi Kick and they give you a free goodie bag with a Kiwi Kick Ball and a hat!!!
Overall we think AFL Kiwi Kick is AWESOME!!!

Kiwiana art

On Tuesday Room 17 was doing crayon and dye. We used Kiwiana pictuers to do our art.
First we got our art books out, then we drew four boxes. After we got chalk and drew one of the kiwiana art.
When we were done we had to show Miss Davies, when she says yes we go off and do chalk and crayon.
After chalk and crayon we did chalk, crayon and dye in our books. Once we have done that we get a white peace of paper and do chalk and crayon again. We had to blend the colours, show Miss Davies so we can dye them after that.
Crayon and dye is really fun to do because you choose your own art to do and do the colours you want to do.

Our ipad

In room 17 there is an ipad. Everyone had a turn,, we did it in roll order the first boy was Daniel and the first girl was Shari. Everybody got 20 minutes each.
When it was my turn I played Ferrari GT it was quite cool but I lost. After that I played traffic rush the aim of the game is to get all of the car to the other side without smashing any other car's. It's hard because car's come flying out of know where.
Then I played Simon it goes like this when a light flashes and a you hear a sound you have to repeat that sound.

Room 17's iPad

In my class we have an ipad. We went in order from the roll boy, girl. First a boy then a girl.
The first boy was Daniel then Shari, the last person for the boy's was Abhishek. The last girl was Leija.
When it was my turn it was pretty stink because I didn't know what to play. I was looking for a game that I wanted to play but I couldn't find it so I just found other games I wanted to play.
After everyone was finished Miss Davies was going to give people to write but it didn't work and then that was the end of the ipad

Room 17!!!

Hey my name is Ezrah, I'm 11yrs old. During my last year, I'm in Miss Davies class.
I love class we get to listen to music while we learn, play heaps of fitness games like relays, running and do lots of stuff like maths, reading and writing. My class is about learning and having fun at the same time.
So far this year we have done 4 flash mobs - which have been so fun to do (these are actually my first flash mobs that I have done), played lots of water games and played on an iPad (how cool is that).
We have changed our class room around so now it looks even better than before and plus we go on heaps of fun as trips places like Camp Bentzon and a Marae!

My Holidays

In the holidays I had such a bad cold I wasn't allowed to go outside.
After four days I was allowed to go to my school holiday program, it was so much fun till I ate lunch! I got bad food poisoning and I didn't go till the next week.
On Monday second week of the holidays I did go back to my holiday program and it was fun but I will never eat from there again in my life.
On Tuesday we went to this place named Mega Centre over at the North Shore. It was fun we did bowling and laser-force, I came second in bowling and fourth in laser-force. I liked laser-force the most because I was really good at it I only died like I don't know 20 times, that is a lot!
On Thursday I went to the museum and went on the volcano thing and it was so cool, I got a little scared on it but I was ok in the end because in Henderson we would all be safe.
On Friday I was with my dad and we couldn't think of what to do but in the end we did- we went to Rainbows End. Dad and I first went on the Go-Carts and I came first out of everyone! After we did that we went on the family go-cars and we crashed into the side of the track and this time I didn't get a black eye!
Because when I was eight, the people thought that I was ten years old and I wasn't. When we did crash I had a multicoloured black eye!
Okay back to my holidays.
After I went on the Fear Fall and I was crying on the way up, I was so scared! On the way down I screamed so loud. Next we went on the Roller-Coaster and I screamed even louder on the loops! After we did that and I got so exited to go on the new ride, Invader - I can now do it without any hands on the handle! How cool!!!
On Saturday I went to the famers market with my Mum and Step Dad named Steve. When I was there I ate chocolate croissants and a lot of orange juice! it was yummy!!!
Last but not least is Sunday the last day of the holiday. I was at my Mums friends boyfriends birthday party and his name is Acmed and he is Egyptian - how cool - the cake was the best! it was a red sort of cake and it had coconut topping with wiped cream!
The next day I was back at school.

The Amazing iPad

I finally had a turn with the iPad, because I'm the last person on the roll . It took room 17, five days for all the people to have a turn.
What I played on the iPad was Sherk racing, the Keyboard and also this Bubble game, it was kind of cool and that was my first time on a iPad but I've been on a iPod Touch before .
I like the iPad better because it's more convenient and bigger then a iPod phone . What's cool about the iPod is that you can fit it in your pocket and you can carry it around the place.
I also like the IPad because you can leave it at home when you can't fit it in your bag and the iPad has more games then a iPod touch.

The Adventures of the iPad in Room 17

Room 17 got a turn with the ipad we have at our school and we all took turns on it for 20 minutes according to roll order.
The iPad is a enlarged version of an iPhone or iPod Touch from the Apple company. It has all the applications and it is also easier to type with because the screen is bigger which means that the buttons to touch like a keyboard are bigger to use and your fingers will not press 10 buttons at the same time.

It is a new and improved version that can last longer but takes longer to charge. It is a really cool device that has been made from apple and also connects to the internet like a computer or the iPod Touch/iPhone. Everyone in Room 17 really enjoyed it and we would all love to have our own ones or have shared ones in our classroom.

It also saves music like what all the Apple technology does. It is very amazing and we give it a rating of 100/10.
Very Good piece of technology. ;)

Our Turn With the iPad!

On Monday the 19th to Friday the 23rd of July, everyone in room 17 got a chance to have a go on Summerlands new ipad.
You may be thinking ''what is an ipad?''
An ipad is a new apple device that you can play games on, listen to music, do maths, reading and heaps more! There are a few more apple devices you may have heard of that are kind of like the ipad, such as the iphone and the ipod touch.
The ipad is all touch screen so it makes it a lot easier.
Everyone in room 17 got given 20 minuets to explore what you can do on the ipad.
Overall I think the ipad is amazing!!!

Kool Kiwiana Kreations!

Home grown was the topic we were given this term and we decided to make an awesome learning experience with it. We accepted this in and gave it a bit of our own Kiwi flavour. If you know Miss Davies then you are probably aware that she can turn normal idea's into great ideas. This one was just a minor idea of the billions of other bigger ones she has (read more in our blog).

As part of our art we used Crayon, Chalk & Dye art. We all had to brainstorm a couple of the kiwi icons that we thought of e.g. kiwifruit, Buzzy Bee, L&P etc.
Just to have a little try out we did a draft and this is what it was like: We got the chalk and drew our icon, then on a separate box we did the same but with crayon. On the third box we did our icon with chalk and coloured it with crayon careful not to colour on the chalk lines. Finally the last one, it was the same as step 3 although now gone over with dye on the whole thing. Rememeber this was only our draft's when we are all finished it will look better because it will have black paper behind it and it will look like bricks on the wall. Thank-You Miss Davies for this brillliant idea!

Wrestling Is True and Real!

My name is Dylan and I do wrestling with Champion Clinton Davis.
I do it at Club Physical by Wendys.
Mum drops me off outside Club Phyiscal. She leaves me for 1 Hour.
On Tuesday its 4 till 5 . Fridays it 5 till 6.
My friend Campbell who played T-ball with me also does wrestling with me.
The two best moves are the Half Nelson, Double Leg. The Hardest is the Chicken wing and the Leg Lace. The Double Leg helps me with my other sport Rugby to tackle better.
Wrestling involes commitment, tuff'ness and the biggest skill sportsmanship with some attitude as well.
This Wrestling is Real! It is not fake like WWE Wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I really enjoy it because I get along well with everyone most of the time.

iPad

On Tuesday the 20th of July we got this awesome device called the iPad.
You can play so many different games on it and the best game is...Rock Band because it is fun but extremely hard. You have to hit different colors at the exactly right time and then you have to do mostly yellow buttons.
My 2nd favorite game was this game where you had to tap as many times in 30 seconds and my high score was 112 and the top tappers some one did 453 times!
My least favorite was the Frogger game because I am hopeless at it.

My Holidays

In the holidays I went to the mountains . I went skiing, I kept falling because it was my first time . I did climbing then I slid back down but I scratched my self on the rocks . I started throwing snow balls at my baby sister then she started throwing snow balls at me.
One of my dads friends came to show us how to ski with no ski poles but that did not help because I did not know how to stop . I took it off the ski items but not the shoes because it was cold then we went up the hill.
Then I found this ice rock it was big then we went even further up the mountain. I found a bigger ice rock it was heavy it was 4x bigger than mine. I wanted to take it home but I couldn't.
We went back down the mountain and then went home .
The next day we went to eat with our friends at this restaurant, I got candy and gave some to my friends and sister .
The next day I went swimming at West Wave. I went swimming with my dad , mum and my 2 sister. My mum and my 2 sisters went swimming in the spa . Me and my dad went into the big pool .
The next day I went to the movies and watched Shrek Lives Happily Ever After. I went to play all kind of racing games in the Time Out Zone, that I like then the movie started. I went to buy a frozo it was the blue berry kind.
So I had a really good holiday!

Glogster

Aashay, Shari, Atarah, Michael and Ezrah taught everyone in the class how to make a glogster.
A glogster is when you can make your own page. You can add videos, pictures and you can draw anything you want. I got taught by Aashay.
In Aashays group there was Emma, Daniel and me. Aashay told us where to click and where not to click. It was really fun when I clicked random pictures. I made a random person. It had a big head and a hippie symbol for the ears. After that I added wings for the arms and the legs. I called it Random Person. On the background I added hippie symbols again and then I added clouds and lightning.
Aashay asked if everyone was finished. Emma, Daniel and I said yes.
Everyone in my group went back to work.

Camping at Mount Egmont

On the 7th of July me, my sister and my Grandad went and stayed in a camp house at the base of Mount Egmont for a night.
When we got there it was freezing but luckily we found two small heaters but the heaters was not very good because even when we had them on full power it was still cold. The camp house had four cabins, one kitchen and toilets and some showers. When we unpacked our sleeping bags we went for a little walk up Mount Egmont. When we were walking we saw a giant valley and in the giant valley we saw a rainbow in the valley.
Once we got back to the camp house my sister and I played some uno. At 8:30 we went to bed in our clothes. I didn't get much sleep because my nose was runny and I kept sneezing.
In the morning my sister and I saw a rabbit.
Before we left we went for one more walk at the start of the trail, my sister spotted a sign that read that there's 1080 poison on the trail but we still went down it.
Once we got back we packed our stuff in our bag then we gave the key back to the owner. Finally, it was a long drive back home.

Today it was my turn to play with the iPad. I had 20 minutes to play with it. I was so nervous because I only had 20 minutes to finish. When I played with the iPad it had lots of games. I think there was 40 games in the iPad.
The game I mostly played was Rock band. I played the guitar and the drums. The mode I played was hard. Sometimes I lost. That game was my favourite.
The least favourtie game I played was free drawing, because when you tried to draw something your fingers got in the way!
When I finished playing all those games I got bored. But there were so many applications. So I just played the virtual drum. After that I played Rock band again. They repeated the same song again again again and again. I think that was the only song to play with.
I had about 5 minutes to finish. So I played the virtual piano. The only song I knew was Marry Had a Little Lamb. When I finished playing that song I just tapped random piano notes.
I had 5 seconds to finish the iPad so I searched for a game I could play but it was too late my time was over.

Te Marae

On Monday the 28th June, Anawhata and Piha went to a Marae. We walked along the grass and a lady sang a song it was loud.
After we went into the Marae. We sang a song then it was morning tea and we played.
Then we went back to the Marae and learnt games. They also told us stories.
Next we went back to the bus and went back to school.
.

Te Marae Visit

On Monday the 28th June Anawhata and Piha went on a Marae visit it was very strange because it was to somewhere I had never been before. We went to Hoani Waititi Marae.

It was very fun and exciting. When we got there, we had to re arrange ourselves because the boys were at the front but the boys needed to be at the back.
Once we were all sorted out and headed inside we saw the lady doing the Karanga [call] it was very loud so it echoed around.
After that we went inside and we sat down and did our performance the first row of boys did a Hongi with the people of the Marae.
Then we did this hunt for the bird on the front of the Marae, it was in 1 of its finger nails!
We had morning tea, came back into the Marae and they taught us some hand games and then lunch.
We listened to some stories the first story was about a giant octopus, the 2nd was about Maui and the sting ray, and the last was about the 2 brothers building Marae's against each other and a whale which only 1 brother's village could eat.
I felt happy because I don't think I will get to go there again!

BP Challenge.

I went to the BP Challenge on Thursday the 16th of June. The BP Challenge is something where you make things out of newspaper, tape and plastic bags.
When I walked in the hall I thought it was huge and there was a really, really big score board. We all went through a big long curtain and it was big and blue. We put our bags down and we sat on a little mat that had a bucket with a pair of scissors on it.
I felt nerves because I really wanted ours to be a best thing that Summerland Primary made.
There were two people who gave out the plastic bags for every school group. We had to make something that can support a marble and when we did it the judges had to measure it.
The second challenge was we had to build a bag out of newspaper and then we had to put a little bag of sand in it. Two people which was Charlotte and Raven carried the bag between the cones and had to put it on the table without the bag falling on the ground.
I had a lot of fun at the BP Challenge. I loved it.

My Holiday

My family and I went on a big holiday around the country, visiting places like Christchurch and Kaikoura, plus many more.

We took the shuttle bus to the airport. A Shuttle Bus is a van that has a little trailer with a cover on top to pull around , you put your luggage in the trailer then hop into the van. We put our luggage in the trailer then got into the van and sat down.
We grabbed our suitcases and went inside. We then walked to the Koru Club.
The Koru Club is a place for buisness workers and people that fly a lot. We had to stay in the Koru Club for an hour and a half then went on the plane to Christchurch.
Finally we arrived at Christchurh.
My dad went to the Budget rental car shop and got the cars keys.
We went outside into the Budgets car park , the car we got was a Red Ford.
We drove to the Copthorne hotel.
We did a lot of things in Christchurch like the gondolas , the Antarctic Center and to the Cathedral.
After 3 days we drove to Kaikoura the home of the whales. We stayed one night in Kaikoura and while we did we went to see the seal colony.
The next day we drove to Picton. My family and I had lunch then went on a boat that was so big called a ferry. The boat was taking us to Wellington. We had to stay on the boat for 3 hours! I threw up but luckily I made it to the toilet.
After 3 horrible hours on the boat we finally arrived in Wellington. We stayed in Wellington for 2 days and they were 2 quiet days because we were all tired. The day we go back to Auckland finally came and we took the plane back to Auckland.

I really enjoyed my holiday because we went to lots of different places we hadn't been to before.

7teen Crew's Cool Room

My class room 7teen crew has been redone.

Our teacher Miss Davies has gone out to buy our class some new things for us to use. Some things she bought were beanbags and tables.
But before she could buy any of those things we had to plan out how we were going to put things in the room, and measure them to make sure our plan would fit in our room.
We barely ever have to sit on the mat because there are tables to sit on instead of the mat. We have our own little study booths were we can have some peace and quite working, we also have some shelves to put our laptops on to but there not normal shelves - they were originally a cupboard but Miss Davies sawed the doors of.
We have everything all over our walls like THE WALL , the wall has all the photos and magazine pics that we like and things we've made. We have a maths wall, a Maori wall, an a instruction wall and our Marae information. Theres also a wall for our poems that we've written .
So come and visit our awesome new room.

What Sport I Play!

The sport I play is rugby. I play for a club called Waitemata. I have been playing for 3 years.

This year, we have been winning some of our games but not all. My rugby team is called the Spartan's.
Last Saturday we beat the Collage Rifles team, they use to be the best team but we won 6-1. The team that we lost to was Suburb's - we lost to them 2 time's.
The people in my team is Zion, Hurinui, Waiora, Shay, Bryce, Bradley, Jacob and Mattie.
I play first five, second five and sometimes centre. My favourite position is first five.
I like rugby because I get to tackle people and run with the ball.

Room 17 homelinks

In Room 17 we have been doing homelinks but...
We are doing all of it on the computer and then print it out so we don't have to keep printing things. We are using a program called Keynote and each slide we put in has all the work we need on our homelink so we can easily look at all the mistakes we've made and what we don't need for our homelink.
Since we are doing our homelinks on our computer, it gets completed quicker because if we've done a mistake on one of the pages, we don't have to print a better copy, we just have to change it and then we don't have to print it again and waste the TREES!

We have to do all of the required homelink pages and they are the following: Title Page, Letter to The Parents, All About Me, Multiple Intellegences or Smart, Term 1 &2 Self-Evaluation, PM Benchmark, Reading, Reading Photo Page, Basic Facts, Understanding Numeracy, My Maths Strategies,All About The Numbers, Statistics, (No) Camp Recount, Camp-Evaluation/No-Camp Photo Page, Day Dream Poem, Instructions, Motto, Room 17's Flash Mobs, Rock Our World, term 2 Cross Country, PE, Anawhata All Stars Values and Art-Pencil Sketching.

At the end once we've finished all the pages (slides) on Keynote, we have to save our whole homelink onto the desktop and then move it to the server and then we have finished our homelink! (For term 1&2/Parent Interviews). Miss Davies put the homelinks in our flash drives so we can take them home and show our parents to have a better look through them. But for the people who don't have a computer or a USB, Miss Davies printed it and put them into the homelink folder we all bought at the start if the year.

Camp 2010

We went to Kawau Island to camp. We went there on the 15th February.
When we first got there we had to set up our beds for night time, when we had finished we got to eat our lunch- then off to play .
At night we got to play a game witch you have to get into 5 groups, then get a straw and put it in your mouth then Mr Hall handed out the lollipops that had a circle in the middle. There were 5 people at the back and first group to get it to the back get a lollies.
We played 2 more games, brushed our teeth and went to sleep.
The next day we went swimming - we got a lifejacket to keep us safe then we got to jump off the diving pad then we got to go and eat a banana split '' yummy''.

The Fantastic Anawhata Assembly!!!

We were all excited but a couple of us were nervous. We welcomed the classes to the assembly then we got up and sung the national anthem, after that Dylan did the welcome fairy and sprinkled glitter over all the new teachers. We then did our 'introduce yourself' chant then our Anawhata chant.

After the Anawhata chant, bang, we got up and did our flashmob dance to the song 'If we ever meet again' by Timbaland and Katy Perry. Everybody looked at us smiled and started shaking there hips. We were so puffed when we finished!
We had the notices .
THEN Elia got up and started the Single Ladies dance everybody laughed when we were smiling and dancing it was such a funny sight!
Finally there was the last song which was Lets Get Loud.
We said good bye and thank you for coming to our assembly.

2010 Camp!

On week 3 in the first term of school 2010, rooms 9, 10, 16 and 17 went to camp!

The transports that were used were the bus and ferry.
Our heart beats got faster and faster as we got closer to Camp Bentzon.
When we finally reached Camp we were welcomed by Erin and Peter (as well as weka's walking all around us).
In our four days of camp we spent our precious time doing kayaking, Sailing, Raft building, Burmatrail, Fishing, Confidence course, Fitness trail, orienteering and bushcraft as well as other small things like free time, sports, wharf jumping, swimming and diary writing.
We had wonderful cooks which were Heather and Steve which served us lovely meals.
There were very few injuries (not major).
All the kids enjoyed there time there and probably felt that time just flew by.
All the kids owe teachers, parents and everyone else who made camp a fun and special place, a big Thank-You!

Flash Mob!!!

One day Miss Davies was walking back from an Anawhata Crew assembly. We were all sitting in class when suddenly "Hey guys I've got an idea!" said Miss Davies as she walked into the classroom. The class was really excited when the word idea popped up because we all knew that Miss Davies ideas were really wacky and funny.

Miss Davies explained to us what a flashmob was and we were really excited about doing it. You must be thinking "What is a flashmob?" well a flashmob is when you get a group of people to randomly dance in the middle of some place with heaps of people watching. You start a flashmob by having a few people or 1 or 2 people starting it off. Then as the song goes on you get more people to join in till everyone is on and as the song comes to the end people break off and just go back to what they were doing. You must be wondering "How do you get everyone to do the same actions?" well I'm going to take you behind the scenes and tell you.
As I said before the inspiration was walking back from assembly. Miss Davies told us that the actions had to be simple. She also told us that we had to choose the right song. The class decided on "U Can't Touch This". The making of the moves were really fun. Every time Miss Davies turned on the song Michael would get up and randomly dance. Ezrah came up with a few of our moves.
Finally we got all the moves and practiced hard until Monday. During lunch eating we did our Flash Mob. Ezrah and I started it off . More people joined in and then when we finished we acted as though nothing happened.
The 7teen crew challenge you!

Welcome to 2010!

It has been such a busy time for us here in the 7teen Crew. We have had camp on Kawau Island, we have got to know each other and we are really enjoying learning. We even have our class motto which is what we strive to live by - it is RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE! We display these attitudes and values in all areas of our lives
We have even had time to do a 'flash mob' dance in the middle of lunch eating time last Monday - it was a lot of fun and the other classes are now looking to take up our challenge.
Keep checking back here to see what we are up to - we are learning lots and enjoying the start to our year.
Anawhata represent!
